Conjoined Twin Abby Hensel’s Journey

Abby and Brittany are incredibly rare dicephalus conjoined twins. They are partially twinned with two heads on one torso. With a shared reproductive system,  the question of “how would they navigate the possibility of pregnancy?” arises. Let’s dive into more details about these adorable twins.

Rise to Fame

Born on March 7, 1990, in Minnesota, USA, Abby and Brittany Hensel have defied the odds to live long and happy lives. Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany first gained national attention when they appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 1996. After the show

After the show ended Abby and Brittany stepped away from the spotlight and focused on college education. And they graduated with degrees in education.

Now they are pursuing a career as a primary school teacher.

Twins are back again the spotlight after sisters posted Abby’s wedding pictures and videos on TikTok stating that Abby Hensel got married in 2021 to Josh Bowling, a nurse, and United States Army veteran.

A video believed to be taken by one of the wedding guests and later shared on social media, depicted the conjoined twins and the groom joyfully dancing together during their wedding celebration. The wedding dress looked soo beautiful, a white dress with fancy embroidery on the top and a mesh neckline. Both girls looked radiant in it.

Rare-Born Twins

Abby and Brittany Hensel are dicephalous conjoined twins, which means they are conjoined twins who share one body but have separate heads, hearts, and lungs. Both share a bloodstream and all organs below the waist. While they have separate spines, Abby is the one who is in control of the right arm and leg, while Brittany controls the left side.

Motherhood

Twins had mentioned many times that they would like to be a mother one day. After hearing the news of the motherhood of the twins, many problems arose. Who would be legally considered as the mother of the children? Will these conjoined twins will be the first to have biological kids in the world?

Twins share the same reproductive system. So it could be a very complex topic to talk about when it comes to pregnancy.

As it turn out Abby took a different approach. To this day she does not have any biological children but she stepped up as the stepmother to the daughter of Bowling, from a previous marriage.
